Introduction
Our
Philosphy
Our
name, 'Fun IN Swimming' describes how students
learn best - when they are happy. Accordingly,
we provide an enjoyable and effective learn-to-swim
program. Our proven professional methods and
techniques in comfortable warm water, temperature-controlled
environment make for the best possible learning
experience.
Our
staff of certified instructors and coaches is
well known in North Houston. Bill and Liam Goudeket
have carefully chosen and trained their staff
members, many which have been a part of our
school for several years. The FINS staff also
participates three times a year in safety and
swim training techniques.
During
lessons, we will strive to teach children to
safely master breath control, floating, and
recognized swim strokes. Our teaching is based
on establishing both trust and respect between
teacher and student, as well as between classmates.
Keep in mind, young children retain skills better
when exposed to expert instruction and practice
at least once a week on a year-round schedule.
A parent should not expect a small child to
retain important life-saving skills in a short
period of time. Our goal is to make swimming
an enjoyable and safe activity that lasts a
lifetime.
Our History
Bill
Goudeket and swimming go back a long way to
the days of early childhood when he failed beginning
swimming three times. With strong parental nurturing
and guidance and exceptional college coaching,
Bill went on to turn his worst childhood experience
into one of his most outstanding accomplishments
with qualifying Olympic Trial times.
In
the past 25 years, Coach Goudeket has founded
and coached three NWAL summer teams and coached
two USA teams, before starting his own 'HEAT',
Houston Elite Aquatic Team. During his years
of coaching HEAT, the team finished in the top
10 in the state of Texas for 11 consecutive
seasons, finishing as high as 2nd place. Several
HEAT swimmers went on to accomplish outstanding
college swimming careers.
In
1999, Bill and his wife Kathy started FINS (Fun
IN Swimming) and in early 2000 bought the George
Campbell Olympic Swim Academy facility. Over
the years since then, the company and our swimmers
have flourished to heights that have exceeded
many of our original expectations, and in late
2006 a much anticipated facility expansion began.
We now have a state-of-the-art indoor aquatic
facility, which includes both a learn-to-swim
and aquatic therapy pool and a 25-yard pool
for advanced lessons, competitive training,
aquatic fitness, and swim parties.
